GREEN VILLE, JAKARTA — Choosing a college major and a dream university is no simple decision for high school students. With so many study programs, universities, and potential career paths to consider, students need self-awareness and comprehensive information to make decisions that truly align with their potential, interests, and life calling.
To address this need, Tunas Bangsa Christian High School Green Ville organized a College Preparation Program. This structured series of activities was designed to guide students step by step—from self-discovery and university research to independently developing a study and career roadmap (timeline).
As the culmination of the program, the school held a Student-Led Conference (SLC) on October 2, 2026, coinciding with the distribution of mid-semester report cards for the first semester. Unlike conventional parent-teacher meetings, the SLC placed students at the center of the process. They were given the opportunity to present their self-discovery findings, chosen majors, target universities, and concrete steps they were ready to take directly to their parents.
Through a curriculum grounded in Christ-Centered Learning and Deep Learning, students engaged in an in-depth self-discovery process through aptitude and interest tests, questionnaires, seminars, counseling discussions, and university visits.
Dave Timothy Retestu, a Grade 10 student, shared how valuable the research experience had been.
“I was able to learn about the majors and universities that interest me, as well as the professions I could pursue. Planning for the future requires a high level of focus and a strong interest in learning,” Dave shared.
Jonathan Irvin Budiman, also a Grade 10 student, expressed a similar perspective. For Jonathan, the research process helped him identify his talents and the areas he needed to continue developing.
“Through the research process for my further studies, I learned more about myself, my interests, and my abilities, so that I can eventually choose the major that suits me best,” Jonathan explained.
In keeping with the spirit of “Educating Children Together with Parents,” the SLC at Tunas Bangsa Christian High School Green Ville provided a warm and meaningful space for dialogue between students and their parents. The occasion offered parents greater peace of mind and confidence as they supported their children’s futures.
David Lim, the parent of Emily Samantha Davidson, a Grade 10 student, expressed his appreciation for the clear goals his daughter had successfully established.
“This program helps us plan for the necessary preparations, including financial readiness as parents, while also motivating our child to work toward her targets over the next six months, one year, and three years as she works toward her dream university,” David wrote in his reflection.
Hilda, the parent of Jonathan Irvin Budiman, also expressed her appreciation. In her view, the program helped families make important decisions based on objective data.
“I am grateful that my child is taking his future seriously and has already begun mapping out his career path. The College Preparation Program has been very helpful for our family in making decisions supported by data and assessment results,” Hilda said.
As a tangible expression of the character values of Responsibility and Self-Control, each student concluded their presentation by writing down a personal commitment. Emily committed to studying with discipline, Dave was determined to study harder, Aluna pledged to maintain consistent academic performance, while Jonathan resolved to remain consistent in completing his school assignments.
Students’ preparation is further strengthened by Tunas Bangsa Christian High School Green Ville’s partnerships with leading private universities in Indonesia, overseas universities, and international education consultants who support students preparing to study abroad. Students are also equipped to pursue admission through the National Selection Based on Achievement (Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi or SNBP) and other admission pathways to public universities.
For Tunas Bangsa Christian High School Green Ville, preparing for the future is about more than pursuing academic prestige or gaining admission to a preferred university. This process is an integral part of Christian character formation and students’ spiritual journeys. Each student is encouraged to recognize that their potential and talents are gifts from God, entrusted to them to develop and use to make a positive impact on society.
In line with the vision of “Building a Mighty Generation,” Tunas Bangsa Christian High School Green Ville remains committed to shaping a generation of young people who reflect the character of Christ, possess outstanding competencies, demonstrate leadership, and are ready to be a blessing wherever God places them.
